What Are Perennials?

A perennial flower or plant lives for more than two years or growing seasons. These types of plants grow and bloom over the spring and summer months, and then die back every autumn and winter. Unlike annuals, which seed themselves, perennials return in the spring from their rootstock. In order to do so, perennials often have specialized structures such as bulbs or tubers that can survive periods of dormancy over extreme environmental conditions such as cold or dry seasons.

Perennials have always been a favorite at Crawfords. For over 3 decades we’ve been cultivating these special plants, and have come to know them well. We’re proud of our knowledge and experience, and love the opportunity to share it with our customers.

At Crawfords, we carry a wide assortment of perennials including ferns, shrubs, trees, and a diverse selection of flowerings plants. We’re always experimenting and introducing new and exciting plants every year, so our variety changes often. However you can still expect to find favorite varieties that have proven themselves over the years. Pre-planted containers of perennials are also becoming increasingly popular at Crawfords, that can be overwintered until the next year.
