Though
we don't open our doors until the beginning of April,
spring starts in the greenhouses in the dark days of
January! Seeds are sown and cuttings are
taken and rooted. This process continues
until May. As the young plants grow, they
are transplanted, sometimes 2 or 3 times and moved to
various houses where they are grown according to their
specific needs until its time to leave home.
Once the
weather breaks in April (hopefully) a lot of things
happen at once. Perennials that have spent
the winter outside under protective blankets are uncovered
and then watched daily for the first signs of life to
show. This is also the time when everyone
comes for their "Spring Greenhouse Fix". An
easy stroll through the greenhouses helps everyone hang
on until spring is sure and certain. Its
also time to see what's new and maybe start deciding
on the year's colour theme or new planting ideas. Unfortunately,
due to space constraints we are unable to take orders
or hold plants. |

Pansies, Iceland Poppies, Osteospermum and other cold-tolerant
plants are usually ready by mid-April. Some
perennials are ready then, but none are put on display
until they show good healthy growth - the premise has
always been to only sell strong healthy perennials -
not just a "promise in a pot".
We also carry a wide range of garden containers,
soils, fertilizers and garden decor.
