| May is
the beginning of summer at Crawfords. This
is when the rest of the plants you're going to be spending
the summer with are ready. Probably the
most popular items are the colour co-ordinated flowering
containers. Hanging baskets, patio pots and
railing or balcony planters have been created in more
than 15 different matching colour themes. Add
to that another 20 colour combinations done individually,
and there's sure to be something to suit every taste. The
mixture of plants in each container is done specifically
with its final destination in mind - full sun, full
shade or part shade. |

Equally popular are the annual flowers in 4" pots. This
is a larger pot than is normally used, but it produces
a better quality plant that performs better throughout
the summer. By careful editing throughout
the years, an extremely large selection of flowers are
grown that have shown themselves to stand up the best
to the variables of an Ontario summer, however the weather
always has the last word.
Crawfords
started growing perennials in 1977 - simply because
there was a lack of good plants available. Today
the number of varieties can be overwhelming so once
again we became "plant editors". As well
as the "tried & true" varieties that have proven themselves
over the years, we're always experimenting and introducing
new and exciting plants every year. That
being said we maintain an inventory of the best and
easiest care perennials second to none.

Perennials
have always been a favourite item of Crawfords.
Between the different people working with them, there
is over 75 years of experience here. We are
proud of our knowledge and experience, and love the
opportunity to share it with others. Something
that is becoming more popular every year are the pre-planted
containers of perennials. These can usually
be overwintered until the next year - directions are
available from the staff. A large selection
of fresh perennials is carried throughout the entire
summer - summer being an excellent time to plant - the
soil is warm and plants establish quickly and look good
right away. We particularly enjoy summer
because we have lots of time then to talk "perennials"
with you!
